ABOUT DHARMAPALA MAHA VIDYALAYA

History of the School: Rathnapura, Sri Lanka; This school was established in 1935 under the sponsorship of Rathnapure Buddhist Society and the first management was done by Mr. Richard Peiris. A Buddhist school for Rathnapura was established with 76 students and 2 students for grade one and has been living more than half century by now. The pathway of school then onwards…… 1935 1935 - 1936 Mr.B.A.Peiris 1936 - 1937 Mr.D.D.Athkorala 1937 - 1958 Mr.D.E.P Samarasekara were the principals of the school and it became a Maha Vidyalaya after 23 years. 1960 Became a government school by the year of 1960. In 1961-12-05 started the A/L Arts stream in the school. 1961 to 1962 Mrs.R.BulathSinghala 1962-01-01 to 1965-06-04 Mr.P.K.Rathnasekara 1965 Mr. M.P.M Mannaperuma 1968 School became a Maha Vidhyalaya and principal was Mr. Wimaladasa Ranatunga 1971 Mr.Mr.P.A/Wickramasingha 1976 Mr. J.Jayasingha 1989 Mr.D.M.Gunarathna became the principal of the Scholl on 1989-05-01 and number of students rose up to 1000 from 560.New School song was created on 1989-11-07.
